The WeTransfer alternative with links that never expire
WeTransfer's free plan caps transfer expiry at 3 days, and sending needs an account. Here you can upload with no account at all, and keep a permanent link on any paid plan, with a QR code and click analytics built in.

Why people look for a WeTransfer alternative
Links expire in 3 days
WeTransfer's pricing page caps the free plan at "Transfer expiry up to 3 days". Its Ultimate plan does offer "Never expire", but on the free tier there is no lasting address you can put in a document or invoice. A free account here gives you 30 days, and paid plans make the link permanent.
Advertising on the free plan
WeTransfer's own pricing table lists the wallpaper backgrounds on its Free and Starter plans as "Advertising (and art)"; removing them means upgrading to Ultimate. Our links never carry an ad, on any plan.
An account just to send
WeTransfer's own guide says: "Sending, however, does require a free account on your side." Here a basic upload needs no account at all; you only sign in to manage links, set passwords or see analytics.

When WeTransfer is the better choice
- You're sending a very large one-off transfer of many gigabytes and don't need the link to stay live afterwards. WeTransfer's paid plans are built for exactly that, as is Smash, which advertises transfers with no size limits. Our per-file caps are much smaller; see our pricing page.
- You want polished branded transfer pages and portals for a whole team. WeTransfer's own docs describe a branded page with your logo, a custom subdomain, branded emails and a portal clients can upload into, alongside download tracking and password protection on every plan. We don't match that.
WeTransfer alternative FAQ
- Is uploadthefile.com free?
- Yes. You can upload and share a file for free with no account (that link lives 48 hours), and a free account extends it to 30 days, with a free QR code. Permanent links, larger files and password protection come with the paid plans. See the pricing page for the current limits and prices.
- Do the links really never expire?
- On a paid plan your links are permanent and stay live until you delete them. A free account gives you 30 days, longer than the 3 days WeTransfer's free plan allows. WeTransfer's Ultimate plan also offers a "Never expire" option.
- Can I password-protect a file like on WeTransfer?
- Yes, from the Pro plan. WeTransfer offers password protection on all of its plans, including the free one, so this is not one we beat them on; the difference here is that a basic upload needs no account.
- Do I need an account?
- No account is needed for a basic upload. You only sign in when you want to manage links, set passwords or see click analytics. WeTransfer's own guide says sending requires a free account on your side.
- Can I send very large files?
- You can send large files, and file-size limits increase on the paid plans. For a single multi-gigabyte one-off transfer that doesn't need to stay online, WeTransfer or Smash may still suit you better.
