Who opened it
On a paid plan, ask readers to type in their email before the page opens, and you see who did. With an account, even a free one, you can also make a tracked link for each person: the visits on each link show who opened what. A Free account gets 4 tracked links.
Which pages were read
We do not show this. We count visitors and views, not pages, and the email says it was opened, not what was read. If you need page-by-page stats, see how we compare with DocSend and Papermark at the end of this page.

Is uploadthefile.com free?
Yes. You can upload a PDF, Word or PowerPoint file for free and share it as a link, and daily visitor counts are on every plan. The email alert, asking for an email address and passwords come with the paid plans, starting with Pro at $7 a month when paid yearly.
Will I get an email when my client opens my PDF?
On a paid plan, yes. We email the account owner when someone opens your page after a day without visits, and when someone enters their email at the gate. We limit how many alerts we send so your inbox does not fill up, and you can turn them off. On Free, check each day's count in your dashboard instead.
Can I see which pages my client read?
No. We count visitors and views per day, not per page of your document. If you need page-by-page analytics, DocSend and Papermark offer them; the links below compare each with us.
Does my client need an account or an app?
No. PDF, Word and PowerPoint files open in any browser, on a computer or a phone, with nothing to download. Word and PowerPoint files are shown as a PDF.
How do I know which client opened it?
Make one tracked link for each person: the visits on each link show who opened what. On a paid plan you can also ask readers to type in their email before the page opens. They type the address themselves and we do not check it with a confirmation email, so treat it as what they told you.
